The Haliburton Club was founded in 1971
by a group of business people who wanted to ensure that the future
generation of Scouting Youth would have access to proper and safe
equipment when they visited the Greater Toronto Council camps.
Scouting recently celebrated the 100th Anniversary
of Scouting Worldwide and now we look forward to the next 100 years
of providing youth with leadership opportunities through the
Haliburton Club and the camps it supports.
Over the years, the equipment needs have been met,
in large, by the funds raised through the Haliburton Club
Breakfast. In 2009 over 10,000 boys and girls and over 3,000
Leaders accumulated more than 68,000 camping days, and experienced
the joys and dreams of these camps. These experiences include a
full range of programs from canoeing, boating, fishing, and trail
orienteering, to the simple pleasures of learning about nature for
the little 5 to 7 year old Beavers. Our camps provide the memories
that dreams are made of.
It is also significant that we strive to prevent
having any Youth turned away due to financial hardship. Scouts
Canada works in conjunction with many youth organizations to ensure
that the Scouting experience is enjoyed by anyone who desires it.
Some of these organizations include: The George Hull Centre,
Breakfast Clubs, Bloorview Hospital and the North Albion
Collegiate. Every Scouting Youth has a chance to visit these camps,
a place where dreams and memories are made.
The individuals who join the Haliburton Club
meet once a year at breakfast to celebrate the memories of the
Scouting Movement. It is here that business people, volunteers,
Scouting Youth and special guests, all mingle to raise the needed
funds for the camps.
Each year there is a Great Breakfast, a Key Note
Speaker, Sports Personalities who allow time for photographs and
autographs, Great Prizes and an opportunity to meet old and new
friends.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the
individuals you see listed on this letterhead for the time they take
from their very busy schedules to be part of the team that makes
this breakfast such a success each year.
Come out and enjoy the Friendship
"You
do make a difference".
